Jon’s Profile: The Right Real Estate Closing Lawyer in New York
Jon B. Felice is a real estate closing lawyer in New York who has closed thousands of loans throughout New York State and worked for many of the nation’s top companies. EDUCATION AND EARLY YEARS
Jon graduated from Cornell University, College of Arts and Sciences, with a Bachelor of Arts in Government. In 1986, he worked as a legislative intern in the United States Senate. He drafted hearing material for New York’s Senator Alfonse D’Amato, and he conducted research in the Library of Congress on various New York issues, including real estate law. This experience became the foundation for his later success as an NYC real estate lawyer. Thereafter, Jon attended New York Law School in Manhattan, where he served as a senior staff member for the school’s Law Journal.
Upon graduating from law school, Jon took a position with Fischbein, Badillo, Harding, and Wagner, a well-known real estate law firm with strong political ties in New York City. As a senior associate, Jon conducted hundreds of closings for Harry Helmsley and represented developer Peter Kalikow on ten different buildings in Manhattan. He became known as a well-respected real estate attorney in NYC thanks to his efforts.
THE FIRM’S FOUNDING
In 1990, Jon started his own real estate law firm dedicated to real estate legal services, Jon B. Felice & Associates, P.C. Within a short time, he was chosen as the Designated Counsel in New York for the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (“Freddie Mac”). He also served a two-year term on Freddie Mac’s Vendor Advisory Board and attended many “best practice” seminars at Freddie Mac’s request as its New York representative counsel. In 1998, Jon was selected to represent the Federal National Mortgage Association (“Fannie Mae”) at the Madison Square Garden Home Loan Convention and to handle hundreds of REO closings for Fannie Mae.
Jon and his real estate law firm served nearly ten years as the Director of Real Estate Transactions at Newman Ferrara LLP, a major real estate and litigation firm in Manhattan.
Through the present, Jon continues to represent some of the key players in New York’s real estate market and is widely recognized for his work in the mortgage and real estate industry. A number of his cases set precedents in New York and have been covered in the New York Law Journal as front-page headline stories.
