Jon graduated from Cornell University’s College of Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts in Government. In 1986, he served as a legislative intern in the United States Senate, where he drafted hearing materials for New York Senator Alfonse D’Amato and conducted research at the Library of Congress on various New York issues, including real estate law. Jon later attended New York Law School in Manhattan, where he served as a senior staff member of the school's Law Journal.
